Our Design Goals For Traffic CountWe set out from the beginning to completely redesign the Auto-Trax ATLite traffic management software and make it more user friendly while adding a host of new data analysis features. One of the great advantages of a radar based data collection system is that it can be set up rapidly and removed quickly with no invasion to the traffic corridor. These systems do not require tubes to be nailed into the road nor embedded magnetic loops. We wanted to extract as much information from the radar based data collection system as possible and present this to the traffic monitoring agency in a simple to understand manner. How was this accomplished?Using next generation technology and conventional programming techniques we developed a multitiered database that uses relational tables to store, sort and categorize the various data structures needed to filter as much information as possible from the radar sign input data. The data is warehoused for extraction at the command of the end user in a very straight forward manner. Very little training or experience is necessary to obtain a great amount of information from the system. |
